Do yourself a favor and change your theme. Pick
something that does not look like the default, which is
the chosen theme for Anonymous Monks. It is very possible
that you thought you were logged in and you weren't. Also,
logging into perlmonks.org is not the same as logging
into www.perlmonks.org ... pick one and keep it
consistent.
And, of course, the important thing is that hopefully you
had your problems answered, regardless of which User Hat
you wearing at the time. Best of luck to you. :)

Posts may use any of the Perl Monks Approved HTML tags. Currently these include the following:
<code> <a> <b> <big>
<blockquote> <br /> <dd>
<dl> <dt> <em> <font>
<h1> <h2> <h3> <h4>
<h5> <h6> <hr /> <i>
<li> <nbsp> <ol> <p>
<small> <strike> <strong>
  <table>
<td> <th> <tr> <tt>
<u> <ul>
-
Snippets of code should be wrapped in
<code> tags not
<pre> tags. In fact, <pre>
tags should generally be avoided. If they must
be used, extreme care should be
taken to ensure that their contents do not
have long lines (<70 chars), in order to prevent
horizontal scrolling (and possible janitor
intervention).
