New Jersey PerlMonks untie()!

on Dec 05, 2002 at 15:20 UTC ( [id://217781]=perlmeditation: print w/replies, xml ) Need Help??

(Yes, that's supposed to be "unite". It's a pun, you see. A clever display of my crafty wit.)

All you monks from New Jersey... I'm interested in saying hello to you. There seem to be a handful of us, at least... apart from me, there's newrisedesigns and Sifmole (who have revealed themselves in the CB today). I know our location information is in jcwren's perlmonk-info creation, but it'd be cool if interested Jersey Monks could respond to this node with location information (as vague as you'd prefer), and where they think would be a good place for a bunch of Monks to meet in our beautiful Garden State.

"Where my hat is at?" Waldwick (07463). I'm north of Paramus and Hackensack, in Bergen County. A couple miles south of the NY state border (and I-87). Oh, and for all you playing at home, that's Parkway Exit #163.

Looks like things are spreading out...

I live in North Brunswick, Middlesex county. Nearest parkway exit is 129, Turnpike exit 9. That's about the center of the state.

If you find a job, let me know if they have another one for me ;-).

    Hey japhy,

I'm up close to you in Nutley

Nutley? Isn't that where Martha Stewart is from?

Too bad she isn't a Perl Monk. </sarcasm>

Actually, not only is that correct, but she dated my father when they were in high school. His picture is in her biography. Hows that for wierd?

Hey -- I live in Hunterdon County, Flemington -- if you don't know it because of the outlet malls you might have driven through it about halfway between Bridgewater and New Hope.

Two decent places, middle state kinda, are New Brunswick and the Bordentown area. There is a great diner, although I think the name is misleading in this case, in Bordentown -- Mastori's Diner; used to eat there during college because you can get enough food for three dinners.

I live in Somerset county, and I think untie()'ing is a great idea. We can drink beer, and talk Perl. After several rounds, we will talk beer, and drink Perl.

We should find a nice bar with a kitchen somewhere in NJ where no one has to drive for longer than an hour.

And now that I'm 21 (as of November 9th), I can partake in the suds (although I'm not a big beer fan -- I prefer other things).

Princeton, but I can't drink beer yet (at least legally.) We could unite at the starbucks in Princeton or in Palmer Square, if anybody else knows where that is.

You have really weird sense of "crafty wit", Jeff. You could have used one on "tie", "bind", and such. With your use of "untie", i thought the NJ group is disbanding, dissolving, or closing... you know a knot being undone (un-tie).

Since you proposed it, I think you should organize the event :) Find a place somewhere smack in the middle of Jersey and let's decide on date/time/attire, etc.
