in thread PMplanet has a new home

"Other users" defines you being online by activity, not by having hit "log in" but not "log out". I never hit log out, but I haven't been here continiously for the last 10 years, either.

(Wow, it's really been 10 years?)

"Other users" defines you being online by activity"

    What exactly constitutes activity?

As just having a page open in a browser does not seem to be sufficient to keep a user showing in both "Other Users" and therefore showing on the map.

      What exactly constitutes activity?

Requesting a page from the server.

As the HTTP protocol is stateless, the server simply cannot tell whether you've kept the page open in the browser after having fetched it.

almut That also answers some other questions, thank you.

For example now I know how this could be done

It's just a matter of loops!
