Dear monks,

Please, don't consider this idea to bring partiality between perl monks users. I have brought this idea only on my own genuine. This is also not to bring negative thoughts among perl monks users. I hope you all understand the beneficial of this idea. This is to deleiver my thought on Inaugrating perl user's groups in IT cities of India.

I am already a member of Indian Linux User Groups Chennai ( ILUGC ). In ILUGC we used to conduct meetings monthly once or twice. In meetings we used to share our knowledge on linux's new comings, linux articles, new open source projects in linux ..etc.

Sameway, why cant we organise similar kind of meeting for Perl user groups in IT cities of India. This really helps users in many ways. Also It will be a good chance for people to meet other monks. This activities have more advantages.

I request all monks especially monks from India can share more idea on this node to take a positive step on this. If we get more positive vote, we can go ahead further to organise this idea.
If this is ok with you all, we have to start the following activities soon :-

  • find the monk in each IT cities of India to take a lead
  • discuss about metting timings
  • etc ... etc...

"Keep pouring your ideas"
  • Comment on Inaugrating a perl user group in Indian's IT cities. ( not restricted to India )

Replies are listed 'Best First'.

Perhaps you want to start a Perl Mongers group?

There appear to already be several groups in India. How active (or not) they may be, I have no idea.

I can only support and applaud growing interest in Perl in India. If the people doing the outsourced jobs over there are doing it in Perl I'm sure that has a positive effect on global interest in my favourite language :-)

It is a good initiative, I am also looking for platform where we can discuss Perl or arrange seminars etc.
As suggested by one of the monks, instead of creating new groups and working in bit-n-pieces, we can extend activities of "Perl Mongers", which is acting worldwide
I think this group should spread awareness in Indian IT circle about Perl. I have observed that nowadays higher management prefers Java. May Perl get some glamour due to such groups.
