Hmmm ... it's related in that I would be able to access those Strawberry Perl files if that website allowed https connections.
At least, I haven't yet had any troubles with https connections.
But it's not Strawberry Perl's fault that I'm (apparently) the only person in the world who can't make an http connection to the website unless I take my laptop over to my neighbour's place.

I've now got my ssh connection to sisyphusion.tk sorted out, and the process of doing a wget followed by an scp works fine, if a little klunky ;-)
I'm sure there's a smarter and neater way of doing it, but that'll do for now.

I probably should point out it's not just Strawberry Perl that I can't access via http.
There are plenty of other websites that pose the same problem.
Thankfully, most (but not all) of those other websites provide for https connections.

Cheers,
Rob

Use:  <p> text here (a paragraph) </p>
and:  <code> code here </code>
to format your post; it's "PerlMonks-approved HTML":

  • Are you posting in the right place? Check out Where do I post X? to know for sure.
  • Posts may use any of the Perl Monks Approved HTML tags. Currently these include the following:
    <code> <a> <b> <big> <blockquote> <br /> <dd> <dl> <dt> <em> <font> <h1> <h2> <h3> <h4> <h5> <h6> <hr /> <i> <li> <nbsp> <ol> <p> <small> <strike> <strong> <table> <td> <th> <tr> <tt> <u> <ul>
  • Snippets of code should be wrapped in <code> tags not <pre> tags. In fact, <pre> tags should generally be avoided. If they must be used, extreme care should be taken to ensure that their contents do not have long lines (<70 chars), in order to prevent horizontal scrolling (and possible janitor intervention).
