You could also check out the BigBrother script archive at DeadCat Script Archives. Though, I cannot seem to get to it due to a DNS issue at the moment. If I remember correctly, there are a bunch of BB scripts that deal with getting device statistics via SNMP. Currently, I'm working on polling a NetApp via the Net::SNMP perl module. It's been great fun :)

Well, Perl-SNMP comes with a whole directory of sample programs. What is it you want to know?
Net::SNMP has an example program in the POD.
If you let us know what you want to do, perhaps we can be of more help.

I really enjoyed the output of NetSNMP.org's snmptranslate -Tp
Of course I had to install/configure Net-SNMP first, but it was worth it so that I knew exactly which MIBs my host knew about in a heirarchical fashion.
Now I just need to spend more time looking for a pure-Perl solution to implementing process monitoring w/notifications and/or restarts, and the methods used to report on configured MIBs. The prior is most important to me though, if any of you have scripts to monitor processes/processes involved in cron jobs.
Thanks for those links, guys and many thanks for the initial post. | [reply] |
