Add Edited Nodes To Newest Nodes

by mt2k (Hermit)
on Aug 02, 2000 at 19:45 UTC ( #25752=monkdiscuss: print w/replies, xml ) Need Help??

I've come to notice that when someone edits one of their nodes, it is not added to a list of Newest Nodes or anything of the kind.

I think it would be a good idea to create another partition under Newest Nodes called Editted Nodes.
This way, editted nodes can be noticed by others.

I first thought of suggesting that editted nods simply be placed along with its prper catagory under Newest Nodes, but I realized that most people (including myself), wouldn't like revisiting nodes that we think are new, but are really editted old ones.
Good idea?

It sounds like a good idea, but... I presume that when I reply to a node (like now), when I hit "submit" I'm brought to the new node I created. At which point, I see a stupid typo, and edit it, and see another stupid typo and edit it again, etc. It would be silly for those two stupid edits to show up on the "Editted Nodes" list.

Could we have a way to preview nodes before creating them, as well as an Editted Nodes list?

perhaps we could have a checkbox similar to the one on the page for updating our home node information. y'know, the one thats labeled "this is a significant update"

I imagine that 'editted nodes' [sic] would be handled much like newest nodes. It simply displays all the newest nodes since the last date you cleared them. So, if someone were to edit a node more than once, since last time they were checked, it would only show up once.

Without having pulled the source for the E2 engine, I would guess that a flag would have to be added to indicate a node had been edited. If the flag was set, the node would be displayed in the 'Editted Nodes' [sic] list, instead of in the newest nodes, which might possibly lead to confusion. But then, I'm not the E2 guy, so I'm guessing...

But it would be nice to know that nodes have changed, I agree.

There is a node (node_id=1005) called Changed Nodes which denies me (monk) permission, but you (friar) may have better luck.

    ps - Good idea!

There's a great script called that shows you a certain kind of changed node. It reveals which nodes created by you have changed reputation since the last check. So when you login and find you have gained or lost experience points, luke will tell you exactly which nodes caused the change.

Sorry...that node is not readable until you reach level vroom. :)

        See gods.
