Of course Getopt::* isn't actually a solution either. One could simply do perl -s ./IUseGetOptToAvoidEvilDashes.pl -\<=0 -\>=0 -\(=0 -\)=0

But I agree it is disconcerting, though I wouldn't go so far as to call -s evil.
