Sure it does, sure it works, provided you don't have a dir.exe installed ( Re: Backtick failure in Windows 7 (common pitfall), Re^2: perl windows backtick problem, Re^2: IPC::Run3 error ) If you want it more robust ("avoid" shell) and capture the output see Re^3: how to dir a directory that have space I've tested both of them and they both work ( Re^3: how to dir a directory that have space and Re: how to dir a directory that have space )
