chenryn has asked for the wisdom of the Perl Monks concerning the following question:

I found the App::Staticperl and saw the POD said that it can "create a single 500kb binary that contains perl and 100 modules". But after I run the smallperl.bundle, I only got a 3.5MB binary. What's wrong?

What's wrong? Nothing, perl grows, modules grow, file sizes increase ... compile time options play a part sometimes ... maybe you didn't use upx to compress executable? http://staticperl.schmorp.de/smallperl.html binary size 581336 Mar 1 09:55 smallperl.bin 1.7M original size before before compression 1729072 Mar 1 09:55 smallperl.bin 568K	[reply]

Greetings, chenryn I notice you indicate you only got a 3.5MB file. In my book 500k is one half (1/2) of 1MB. So it appears you got more than you bargained for? --Chris Hey. I'm not completely useless. I can be used as a bad example.	[reply]
