In UNIX how does one execute the .profile in PERL running from CRON

rcetnar has asked for the wisdom of the Perl Monks concerning the following question:

I am trying to get the Oracle parameters from the .profile to be execute, when running the perl program from cron. Currently I am reading the .profile and doing ENV to change the environment setting for Oracle home, base, etc. Is there another way to execute the .profile so I get all system parameters for that user executing the Perl program through cron? I tried using the system function and that didn't work. Any help would be appreciated.

    You include the profile execution in the command that you put in your crontab. Something like this will work:

    . /home/me/.profile && my_script
