more work in perl

Hi Monks

I am not having much to do in perl . so can any of the monks be kind enough to involve me in any of the projects they are handling . i will try to deliver my best thx in advance

i'm amazed at your statement because i'm experiencing the opposite problem! i'm working on as many projects as i can keep straight in my head and can think of quite a few others that i'll eventually get to. just think of something that would make your life easier (ie. laziness principle) for example, i'm working on a set of scripts that make handling my vast media collection easier. odds are that if this tool makes your life easier it will make other peoples life easier. and if its good enough of an idea some of them may even offer to help you develop it. what can you think of along these lines? hell, if it sounds useful, maybe some monks will help you out, i know i would. ~spectraphonic	[reply]

Another place you may be able to help a lot is CPAN, by looking through the long-term bugs of some modules (Here I'd actually recommend lesser-known modules.. if a bug remains in a big module it's likely to require extensive reworking) you may be able to find a programming task that you feel confident in, with a module in a domain that interests you. The great thing about Open Source is you don't have to be invited to the party. Just start working and submit patches. Some sources of ideas... The CPAN bug tracker. Pick a module you like. Pick a bug you want to fix. Work on it. The Perl bug tracker. With nearly 1500 open tickets there's always things to do even if that's just digging through old tickets and finding ones that have already been fixed.	[reply]

On that note, it'd be nice if some of the old tickets had TODO test conditions created for them. A great way to get into learning the dark recesses of Perl.	[reply]
