Someone told me I should cross dress, but that's ridiculous. I'm not religious at all.

I had a Halloween party last night and went as a monk. I was thinking of bringing along some Perl paraphrenalia, but unfortunately no one there would have gotten the joke, so I didn't.

This year I will be dressed as a zombie (a la the George A Romero movies) and NOT a character from Tron like this guy :)

    Happy Halloween everyone

I like swords and knives. So I'll be dressing as a ninja. Does this count as a profession?

I dressed as a viking ... which is more professional than most of the "professionals" I work against. Er, with.

I'm undecided. I might be dressed as an old longhaired heathen, which is my norm, or I might put on the wedding outfit (it being my wedding anniversary) and end up looking like Alice Cooper in his Nightmare Returns tour. If I wear the white top hat and tails, I'll scare fewer children... but a greater number of adults, which is always good. :-)

I'll be reprising my role of "parent" again this year.

Despite being relegated to the sidewalk, it is a key role steeped in tradition, without which the production would simply not get off the ground:

    • I'm one of several costume designers this year
    • I'm chief prop designer, as well as the construction foreman
    • I'm a roadie, schlepping critical equipment including flashlights, extra bags, umbrellas and facial tissues from scene to scene (and we have more scene changes than anything you'll see on the big or small screen, though the scenes are short and the scripts admittedly a bit derivative and redundant)
    • I'm a dietary consultant, to ensure the stars of the show don't overdo it during the extravaganza and especially after the curtain falls (the cast party is quite wild until they crash from exhaustion)
    • Of course I'm head of security, tasked with keeping my charges safe from traffic, the undead and each other
And in the end, it is still very satisfying and a lot of fun!

As we were waiting for the trick or treaters tonight, my neighbour stumbled over onto my driveway with a beer in hand. "Guess what I'm dressed as?" he asks. Seeing as he wasn't dressed up at all, I had only one reply: "a mentally unstable 40 year old?".

He then grinned said "yeah, how did you know?" and ran down the street laughing manically.

    I love my neighbours.

Just to be different this year, I'm going as my imaginary childhood friend.

This year I dressed up as a Mexican Knife fighter, basically a cowboy wearing a poncho in which knives are hidden. So I guess I went as myself ;).

    flower power ninja.

Actually not being of Brit or Anglo-something origin myself, I haven't got a Halloween to celebrate or dress up for. But wandering the windy streets of old town Edinburgh, my forehead got cold and there was this psychodelic coloured kerchief to wrap around it... now where's the picture?

    Cheers, Sören
