Actually, I'm more disappointed by the absence of 'ear', 'tube' and 'feather'.

    Especially 'feather'. They're cool.

I voted book... All of the rest get a moisture from thier host. The book variety need to survive in a much drier environment.
what makes you have a preference for dry worms?
I'm just most impressed, since they have a relatively hard time finding moisture. The poll is about how impressed we are.

    I would vote for
    Clonorchis sinensis.
It has a truly fascinating life cycle.

      I dunno I think that
      Cestoda
is fairly impressive, I mean up to 20m long? Yuck!

How could I not vote "Book", considering my obsession with building my own personal tech library... And where is the Internet worm option? If not impressive, its at least impacting.

My oversexed mind makes me lean towards 'screw', but then again, the whole context of the poll escapes me - or perhaps, out-perverts me.

    ...

The more I think about it, the more sickening and perverted this poll becomes. People can come up with some sick things...

A poll about worms and no mention of lawyers? It seems so obvious.

Then again, are lawyers really impressive? Hm, this needs thinking ...

I voted 'book', but only because there was no choice for 'earth'. Lowly creature that it is--it's my turtle's favorite food, comes in handy for fishing and does wonders in the garden.

I voted for ringworm... I tend to get ringworm every year after Christmas. I sure wish people would wash their hands before setting out the milk and cookies. Oh, well.
The thought of Santa with ringworm makes me a little nerveous!

What? Where's the sandworms? Can't fish for my favorite fish without sandworms! Gimme a box of raw clams and a box of sandworms and put me on a boat just off of Cuttyhunk Island and I'm a happy camper.

Don't reach inside a Tautog's mouth though... you'll have no fingers left!

Funny you should mention those guys. We were fishing for blues off the coast of MA/NH last weekend and I think we got one of them(didn't know what it was -- looks just like the picture, now I know)! Thanks for solving the mystery, happy fishing and tight lines!

Don't know if you have them in the rest of the world but here in Britain no sea fishing trip wouldn't be complete without the lovely named Lug Worm to use as bait.
That would have had my vote.

Having only recently learned about the existence of the ice variety, I can understand their exclusion from the poll. They certainly would have earned my vote, though!

    I voted book !
Not just any books -- O'reilly books! I have 3 full sets of 3 three different languages. I take one/two every time I travel. I love my nerd books! Funny thing is I never read a single book cover to cover until I was a freshman in college, now I read o'reilly books like novels -- thus bookworm.

First no "suppository" choice in the caffeine poll, and now no "inch". I feel so unrepresented.

I don't suppose you kids would remember this from the 1970's, but that's what turned me on to inchworms, even though I never had one.

No "rubber" worm or "Earth" worm for the fishermen?
No "Dune" worm for sci-fi buffs?
No worm "gear" for the ME's? (or is that what "screw" is supposed to cover?)
No "internet" worm for the black hats?
And what about "Smaug"? I think the Tolkein fans deserve a wyrm too!

On the theory that books contain knowledge, knowledge is power, and power is a prerequisite of conquest, I voted "book" rather than Conqueror — but I'm miffed at its absence.

Is there a special name for the worm in Tequila, is is that really a grub?
Actually, it's not Tequila. The worm only comes in Mescal, and these days is some species of moth caterpiller that feeds on agave.

    Slug?

Caenorhabditis elegans and C. briggsae off course!

(but I voted book, because that's more applicable to me personally).
        Slug?
