RE: Did you work at all on Memorial Day? (kudra: I live in Europe)

It's not a holiday here, but this Thursty-day is. I'm going to work though--if I work holidays I can have the same number of days as chosen vacation days. It's not too hard to choose between a useless mid-week holiday and an extra day for going somewhere.

I did not plan to 'work' over the holiday, but because I am the current
sysadmin until my two weeks are over, I was called because the network
went down and the workaholics who were in were upset...sheesh.

Over the weekend I did spend time learning more about Apache and CGI and
DBM. I also practiced manipulating Hashes of Hashes. That was fun mind
bending. The biggest benefit to this job is the laptop I get to use that I
fdisk'd Windows off of for Linux and use to learn at home...

I slept late, ate hamburgers, and logged into Perlmonks once or twice. I also upset my future mother-in-law (read: battleaxe). In all, it was a good day.

lol, good move JJ! I ended up submitting one again to that dutiful indentured servitude that I have come to love so much -- I went and worked on my mother's yard all day!

    lemme see..... perlmonks or yardwork..

man, did I mess up... lol

    So what's Memorial Day then?

I didn't work monday because it's our Spring Bank Holiday (GB), but that's something different.

    Nuance

Baldrick, you wouldn't see a subtle plan if it painted itself purple and danced naked on top of a harpsichord, singing "Subtle plans are here again!"

Memorial Day is the day we honor our fallen service members.

Ah, we have a Sunday in November set aside for that (the date changes every year) we call it Rememberance Sunday.

I spent the weekend and part of Monday upstate (I'm in Indiana, so that means near lake Michigan) at a hotel/resort/spa with my wife. Three days of doing nothing, thinking nothing, just relaxing and having a good time. I had my Palm VII with me so I could check urgent email (none), check Slashdot and get a wine recommendation for dinner :-) (I need to write a PQA to read Perlmonks from the Palm VII).

All in all, a really nice weekend. Too bad I have so much work accumulated that now it's after midnight, and I'm still here. This week is going to be though.
