Consider that the failure is likely someone else's fault, possibly LanX :P

I just blame god. (In the final analysis, that's where the buck stops.)

      Cheers,
      Rob

Rumour has it that there are those who worship LanX as the almighty.

What makes you think that I am consistent? I have used nearly all of these responses at some time.

    I always succeed. Like Chuck.

Update: Chuck doesn’t use bless because he is blessed.

Plan A: Leave it for a while and come back later for another bash or two.

    Plan B: Sleep on it.

Plan C: Explain it to someone else. These days, since I'm working from home (as many of us are), that someone is my step-son. And that approach does sometimes work.

Thanks PJ. We owe you so much. Groklaw -- RIP -- 2003 to 2013.

Plan C: Explain it to someone else.

Classic Rubber duck debugging. Having a human pretending to listen to you makes it look a little bit more normal to outstanders. Plus, an actually listening human can ask questions that may lead to finding bugs.

I reread the manual for any parts I didn't write, try again, wash, rinse, repeat a couple of times, then go to IRC or some other help system.

My OS is Debian 10 (Buster); my perl versions are 5.28.1 local and 5.16.3 or 5.30.0 on web host depending on the shebang.

No matter how hysterical I get, my problems are not time sensitive. So, relax, have a cookie, and a very nice day!

I thought you may have said "have a cookie and a very nice day!"

Go to sleep and tackle it again when my mind is fresh. If I'm lucky, I'll have dreamt the solution.

I love that at 135 votes, no one has voted "pay someone else to do it for me"

If it's any consolation, I paid someone to vote on this on my behalf....

      Perl programmers are thrifty!
