I just approved Location doesn't work on MAC, approximately a day late if not exactly a dollar short.

This happens fairly often.

It is not that big of deal if questions by registered users are answered but not approved because the user can get notification that their post was responded to and can find the answer. But people posting as AM are probably not going to be able to find their post again if it was not approved, and anything you said in response to an unapproved AM question is just wasted typing.

So if AMs ask questions that are even semi-reasonable, it is important that they be approved sooner rather than later. (If you are level 6 on up then you can turn on the approval nodelet and do this.)

    Good point, tilly.

It's also good to confirm that the AM (or any) post was submitted to the appropriate section of the Monastery *before* approving it.   Is easy enough to scan a new post and think "humdedum... good question, no missing-code-tags, ok.   *click*   There, it's approved.   OOPS - to the wrong section!"

Update: Above is all hypothetical, of course.   *cough*   It's not like I've ever done that.   ;^)

Of course, if you do accidentally approve a node to the wrong location, you can (and should) message an editor asking them to move it for you, or consider it with an explanation, and vote edit. Then an editor can vote edit, move it to the right place, and remove it from nodes to consider.

Along the same lines, a lot of anonymonk questions start out in Categorized Questions and Answers and us QandAEditors end up moving them to Seekers of Perl Wisdom.

For registered users (at least if they are new to the monastery), I /msg them when I do that (since, unfortunately, "auto-/msg for replies to your node" defaults to "off"), and approve the question after it has been moved. The second step is extra important if the author was anonymonk since you can't do the first step.

If anonymonk asks a Cat Q+A question that doesn't even belong in SoPW, I "answer" the question stating why the question is unlikely to get a good answer (way too vague, duplicate, etc.) and stating that the question will be deleted.

Anyway, I offer those as suggestions that other QandAEditors may wish to follow and to invite comments or suggestions (of course).
