When initially considering a node, the process is: enter consideration text; select checkbox; hit [moderate] button.

Now the Approval Nodelet displays the consideration text; however, the keep/edit/reap/nada radiobuttons are not shown. In order to see the radiobuttons, a page refresh is required: at which point, both consideration text and radiobuttons are displayed (as you'd normally see when landing on a page that has already been considered).

So, the enhancement suggestion is for both consideration text and radiobuttons to be displayed after hitting the [moderate] button.

    I had the discussion in the past, it was especially bothering when dozens of spam posts appeared.

    FWIW:

    A trick in case of "reap" is to downvote directly after consideration (negative rep is obligatory for reaping).

    The buttons appear then automatically and you save a step.

    Of course this doesn't help much in cases where you don't want to vote ...

      I do make a point of downvoting any node I've considered for reaping and had worked out that "trick" some time ago; regardless, thanks for sharing it as it may help others. (And sorry for the late reply: I've been tied up with other things mid-week.)

    Good thinking, but I think you're not aware of the state of the internal code handling moderation. It has bigger problems than just not showing the vote buttons early enough.

      I'm entirely ignorant of any and all internal code. I've never seen it.

      Fair enough. I was offering a suggestion for an enhancement not reporting a bug. Obviously, actual problems should be fixed first.
