in reply to "Worthington: "THERE IS NO ******** WAY TO FINISH PERL 6 WITHOUT LEAVING PARROT BEHIND"

For the record, nobody actively tried to kill pugs or niecza; they simply suffer from a lack of developers. (A fate that also befell many non-Perl 6 projects; suidperl comes to mind...)

I think suidperl has just proven to be an inherently bad idea that nobody wanted to work on it anymore.

It is surprisingly hard across platform to run a binary file with text input while making sure that the text input remains the same. As this is a security-sensitive topic and it usually requires deeper understanding for each operating system, suidperl was found to be too much of rope to give to people and take the blame for the security holes.

I'm not sure if the idea of "simply bad idea" transfers to the other projects, but I see quite much of CADT development, except that maybe not all of the people are teenagers.

All: The target of Corion's link is well worth the minute or less it'll take to read and highly recommended.

As to "not all of the people are teenagers" -- some of them may be the wet-behind-the-ears new "managers" with their MBAs and not a clue about the topics with which their subordinates are dealing.
