As you see, heredocs certainly don’t have to “break indentation”; it just takes a bit of creative processing to make ’em look purdy. The deQ and deQQ functions are trivial:

sub deQ($) {
    my $text = $_[0];

If they must be used, extreme care should be taken to ensure that their contents do not have long lines (<70 chars), in order to prevent horizontal scrolling (and possible janitor intervention).
