Not an answer to your specific question, but:
SOAP::Lite knows how to normalize perl data structures in to SOAP arguments so I'd try just passing it to your call method, and then fall back to building the object with SOAP::Data if you have problems.

<code> tags not
<pre> tags. In fact, <pre>
tags should generally be avoided. If they must
be used, extreme care should be
taken to ensure that their contents do not
have long lines (<70 chars), in order to prevent
horizontal scrolling (and possible janitor
intervention).
