dear monk, thanks for the correction. my en_1000 file is made up of such lines and i need to extract the whole line based upon the id provided.
<p id=EN--1000-0003-3> The object turned out to be a big meteorite. Uttama was delighted. He had never seen anything like it on sea or land before. Despite its journey in space and stay in water, it had retained its shape and colour. </p>

Posts may use any of the Perl Monks Approved HTML tags. Currently these include the following:
<code> <a> <b> <big>
<blockquote> <br /> <dd>
<dl> <dt> <em> <font>
<h1> <h2> <h3> <h4>
<h5> <h6> <hr /> <i>
<li> <nbsp> <ol> <p>
<small> <strike> <strong>
  <table>
<td> <th> <tr> <tt>
<u> <ul>
-
Snippets of code should be wrapped in
<code> tags not
<pre> tags. In fact, <pre>
tags should generally be avoided. If they must
be used, extreme care should be
taken to ensure that their contents do not
have long lines (<70 chars), in order to prevent
horizontal scrolling (and possible janitor
intervention).
