I think you didn't quite understand the issue, we are not discussing what Perl is. But what Perl will be given the news hype(Even if false) that other scripting languages are getting.

Most of the worlds developers use something just because a lot of people are using it. That's how Java and Python are winning. Hype and News attracts people because they are often interconnected with things like Jobs and number of projects.

Therefore its important to make noise regarding what you have doing. Even ten line Python scripts get posted on reddit and HN. And in the Perl world CPAN grows by tens of modules everyday and we don't even make a noise. Lets start posting links to two to three modules on these modules every day and you will suddenly see due to all that noise there will be rise in Perl adoption in those communities.

Title:
Use:  <p> text here (a paragraph) </p>
and:  <code> code here </code>
to format your post; it's "PerlMonks-approved HTML":

  • Are you posting in the right place? Check out Where do I post X? to know for sure.
  • Posts may use any of the Perl Monks Approved HTML tags. Currently these include the following:
    <code> <a> <b> <big> <blockquote> <br /> <dd> <dl> <dt> <em> <font> <h1> <h2> <h3> <h4> <h5> <h6> <hr /> <i> <li> <nbsp> <ol> <p> <small> <strike> <strong> <table> <td> <th> <tr> <tt> <u> <ul>
  • Snippets of code should be wrapped in <code> tags not <pre> tags. In fact, <pre> tags should generally be avoided. If they must be used, extreme care should be taken to ensure that their contents do not have long lines (<70 chars), in order to prevent horizontal scrolling (and possible janitor intervention).
  • Want more info? How to link or How to display code and escape characters are good places to start.
