I second the Komodo recommendation. Earlier versions had some challenges with staying connected to the remote server, but the latest one works great. I use it on windoze to edit remote files in Linux all the time. There is a Linux version too in case you want to edit directly from the Linux box. Now if they could just get it to do remote debugging on Linux too...

Snippets of code should be wrapped in
<code> tags not
<pre> tags. In fact, <pre>
tags should generally be avoided. If they must
be used, extreme care should be
taken to ensure that their contents do not
have long lines (<70 chars), in order to prevent
horizontal scrolling (and possible janitor
intervention).
