( [id://3333]=superdoc: print w/replies, xml ) Need Help??
Hello All!!!

Today I encountered a generous lesson from my Fellow monks. I put out a post , which was to gain some understanding of a problem that I was trying to figure out. I had it working, but I wanted to know if this was really working the way that my mind had convinced itself that it worked!

Then a horrible thing happened, I started to get negative points for my question and I panic'd, and tried to remove my node (which as I gain PM wisdom), DOES NOT WORK. It seems that I was thought of as a child who took my ball and went home after the game did not go the way that I wanted it to go.

This was not at all my intention. I really wanted to save myself some embarrassment, and didn't want to waste others times with a 'stupid' post. Thank goodness for the ChatBox, cuz it along with some Fellow Monks gave me encouragement to put my node back out there. I did, and the day has turned around.

What could have gone from disasterous and fear-filled turned into a fantastic learning experience for me. Thanks to all who helped me and I am putting this out there so maybe help another 'newbie' like myself to not make the same assumption, cuz, reality speaking, no one is here to make anyone feel bad about coding. This site is for the advancement of perl and all of it's magic. I believed that in 2001 when I joined, and I found it to be true when I recently returned after an almost 5 year absense.

Thanks for keeping me in the database. I am glad to be back amongst friends.

peace, LOVE and ((code))

Title:
Use:  <p> text here (a paragraph) </p>
and:  <code> code here </code>
to format your post; it's "PerlMonks-approved HTML":

  • Are you posting in the right place? Check out Where do I post X? to know for sure.
  • Posts may use any of the Perl Monks Approved HTML tags. Currently these include the following:
    <code> <a> <b> <big> <blockquote> <br /> <dd> <dl> <dt> <em> <font> <h1> <h2> <h3> <h4> <h5> <h6> <hr /> <i> <li> <nbsp> <ol> <p> <small> <strike> <strong> <table> <td> <th> <tr> <tt> <u> <ul>
  • Snippets of code should be wrapped in <code> tags not <pre> tags. In fact, <pre> tags should generally be avoided. If they must be used, extreme care should be taken to ensure that their contents do not have long lines (<70 chars), in order to prevent horizontal scrolling (and possible janitor intervention).
  • Want more info? How to link or How to display code and escape characters are good places to start.
