Then the Authentication plugin will use its default login form, which does NOT make use of SSL. The main reason I needed to create my own was to enable SSL functionality. As for setting up apache+ssl, you can try looking here: http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=51753 It's geared towards ubuntu linux, but should apply to any Debian based linux distibution with minor changes.
