an interesting alternative for those to whom slices are less natural
Though it's nice of Perl to offer alternative ways to achieve the same thing, that are even almost as concise, but
that's still no excuse not to learn about array slices. After all, they're an essential part of what makes coding in Perl so elegant.

<code> tags not
<pre> tags. In fact, <pre>
tags should generally be avoided. If they must
be used, extreme care should be
taken to ensure that their contents do not
have long lines (<70 chars), in order to prevent
horizontal scrolling (and possible janitor
intervention).
