( [id://3333]=superdoc: print w/replies, xml ) Need Help??
Today when I came back to my desk afer lunch I found the new issue of Sys Admin magazine waiting for me - I flipped pages to the first article that caught my attention - I read until I got to Listing 1 "somescript.pl" the first thing I noticed was the lack of use strict; at the top and the second thing, though less of an issue for me was the lack of warnings. I immediatley flipped to the table of contents and scanned for the next article of interest. (A bit of irony was the ad for Stonehenge amidst the pages of the offending article. ) So, is it me? Or does this lack of due dilegence turn others off as well?

Title:
Use:  <p> text here (a paragraph) </p>
and:  <code> code here </code>
to format your post; it's "PerlMonks-approved HTML":

  • Are you posting in the right place? Check out Where do I post X? to know for sure.
  • Posts may use any of the Perl Monks Approved HTML tags. Currently these include the following:
    <code> <a> <b> <big> <blockquote> <br /> <dd> <dl> <dt> <em> <font> <h1> <h2> <h3> <h4> <h5> <h6> <hr /> <i> <li> <nbsp> <ol> <p> <small> <strike> <strong> <table> <td> <th> <tr> <tt> <u> <ul>
  • Snippets of code should be wrapped in <code> tags not <pre> tags. In fact, <pre> tags should generally be avoided. If they must be used, extreme care should be taken to ensure that their contents do not have long lines (<70 chars), in order to prevent horizontal scrolling (and possible janitor intervention).
  • Want more info? How to link or How to display code and escape characters are good places to start.
