Easy, just subtract every number from n**2 + 1.
See, here's the original spiral:
1 2 3
8 9 4
7 6 5
We subtract it from 10,
10-1 10-2 10-3
10-8 10-9 10-4
10-7 10-6 10-5
=
9 8 7
2 1 6
3 4 5
Also note that in my J solution, all you have to do is to change the /: operator to \:. Can you do this with a one-charater change to any other existing solutions? :)

Posts may use any of the Perl Monks Approved HTML tags. Currently these include the following:
<code> <a> <b> <big>
<blockquote> <br /> <dd>
<dl> <dt> <em> <font>
<h1> <h2> <h3> <h4>
<h5> <h6> <hr /> <i>
<li> <nbsp> <ol> <p>
<small> <strike> <strong>
  <table>
<td> <th> <tr> <tt>
<u> <ul>
-
Snippets of code should be wrapped in
<code> tags not
<pre> tags. In fact, <pre>
tags should generally be avoided. If they must
be used, extreme care should be
taken to ensure that their contents do not
have long lines (<70 chars), in order to prevent
horizontal scrolling (and possible janitor
intervention).
