My client's security department won't let us use SOAP::Lite to access the SAP BW through SAP's Netweaver platform. They tell me that I will just have to log into BW and run reports (manually) and then download them to .CSV files. The problem with this approach (other than that it is idiotic not to use the web services interface) is that without the automatic access to BW data, the system becomes pretty worthless.

Anyone who has used BW knows it's pretty hard on the eyes not to mention HTML parsers - so the question is this: Have any of the monks successfully built code that will run SAP BW reports and parse the output? If so, I will be eternally grateful.

Title:
Use:  <p> text here (a paragraph) </p>
and:  <code> code here </code>
to format your post; it's "PerlMonks-approved HTML":

  • Are you posting in the right place? Check out Where do I post X? to know for sure.
  • Posts may use any of the Perl Monks Approved HTML tags. Currently these include the following:
    <code> <a> <b> <big> <blockquote> <br /> <dd> <dl> <dt> <em> <font> <h1> <h2> <h3> <h4> <h5> <h6> <hr /> <i> <li> <nbsp> <ol> <p> <small> <strike> <strong> <table> <td> <th> <tr> <tt> <u> <ul>
  • Snippets of code should be wrapped in <code> tags not <pre> tags. In fact, <pre> tags should generally be avoided. If they must be used, extreme care should be taken to ensure that their contents do not have long lines (<70 chars), in order to prevent horizontal scrolling (and possible janitor intervention).
  • Want more info? How to link or How to display code and escape characters are good places to start.
