Take the job, it's hard to code when you're hungry. Keep looking for opportunities to code for free and for pay on the side. Try and build a body of work and references that can be a real certification. It's real because you've already done the work and you have satisfied customers. IMHO, you may not want to work for the kind of place that dotes on certifications instead of experience.
