I thought of the same thing, so you are not alone. Most community websites have similar setups, the lack of which reflects poorly on this one.

But I never bothered to bring up the suggestion, as you have. I know nothing would happen. (I have been beaten down too many times.) I have brought up other suggestions and have seen them quietly implemented by tye and others. But these were small, albeit important, things like adding extra html and text in certain places.

Perhaps pmdev should explain their goals, hierarachy, and methods better to the community, so we all have a better idea of where things are headed and why. Obviously many people care about this site enough to take an interest in its development, even if we are not directly involved in it.

Title:
Use:  <p> text here (a paragraph) </p>
and:  <code> code here </code>
to format your post; it's "PerlMonks-approved HTML":

  • Are you posting in the right place? Check out Where do I post X? to know for sure.
  • Posts may use any of the Perl Monks Approved HTML tags. Currently these include the following:
    <code> <a> <b> <big> <blockquote> <br /> <dd> <dl> <dt> <em> <font> <h1> <h2> <h3> <h4> <h5> <h6> <hr /> <i> <li> <nbsp> <ol> <p> <small> <strike> <strong> <table> <td> <th> <tr> <tt> <u> <ul>
  • Snippets of code should be wrapped in <code> tags not <pre> tags. In fact, <pre> tags should generally be avoided. If they must be used, extreme care should be taken to ensure that their contents do not have long lines (<70 chars), in order to prevent horizontal scrolling (and possible janitor intervention).
  • Want more info? How to link or How to display code and escape characters are good places to start.
