Code quality should be commensurate to how many times you can reasonably expect to have to edit it. It it's a true one-off, then don't worry about it! If it's something you might want to re-use, then put the time in up-front (if you can) and make it worthwhile.

Snippets of code should be wrapped in
<code> tags not
<pre> tags. In fact, <pre>
tags should generally be avoided. If they must
be used, extreme care should be
taken to ensure that their contents do not
have long lines (<70 chars), in order to prevent
horizontal scrolling (and possible janitor
intervention).
