In your opinion, is Perl a good place to start (not necessarily the end all) learning the principles of OOP in general? I've gone through the learning perl book some time ago and I'd rather brush up on my basic Perl and then move on to Randal Schwartz new book, "Learning Perl Objects, References, and Modules" instead of learning Java just to acquire a knowledge of OOP. Thanks, Barney

Posts may use any of the Perl Monks Approved HTML tags. Currently these include the following:
<code> <a> <b> <big>
<blockquote> <br /> <dd>
<dl> <dt> <em> <font>
<h1> <h2> <h3> <h4>
<h5> <h6> <hr /> <i>
<li> <nbsp> <ol> <p>
<small> <strike> <strong>
  <table>
<td> <th> <tr> <tt>
<u> <ul>
-
Snippets of code should be wrapped in
<code> tags not
<pre> tags. In fact, <pre>
tags should generally be avoided. If they must
be used, extreme care should be
taken to ensure that their contents do not
have long lines (<70 chars), in order to prevent
horizontal scrolling (and possible janitor
intervention).
