Welcome to the Monastary. I suggest that you buy/borrow Learning Perl, but until then, try these out: Also, check out the Tutorials section (though it does sound like you did look in there) and Super Search for more info. ... Looking at a Super Search on "learn" and "perl" restricted to root nodes of Tutorials and Meditations, I'm becoming convinced that you should start there.

If you put a little effort into finding the right docs, you'll find that almost everything you want to know about programming is available, either here or elsewhere on the 'net, for free. And if you have some money to spend, you can get some more great docs. Put in a little time searching, and you'll love the results.

Perl programming and scheduling in the corporate world, as explained by dragonchild:
"Uhh ... that'll take me three weeks, broken down as follows: 1 day for coding, the rest for meetings to explain why I only need 1 day for coding."

Title:
Use:  <p> text here (a paragraph) </p>
and:  <code> code here </code>
to format your post; it's "PerlMonks-approved HTML":

  • Are you posting in the right place? Check out Where do I post X? to know for sure.
  • Posts may use any of the Perl Monks Approved HTML tags. Currently these include the following:
    <code> <a> <b> <big> <blockquote> <br /> <dd> <dl> <dt> <em> <font> <h1> <h2> <h3> <h4> <h5> <h6> <hr /> <i> <li> <nbsp> <ol> <p> <small> <strike> <strong> <table> <td> <th> <tr> <tt> <u> <ul>
  • Snippets of code should be wrapped in <code> tags not <pre> tags. In fact, <pre> tags should generally be avoided. If they must be used, extreme care should be taken to ensure that their contents do not have long lines (<70 chars), in order to prevent horizontal scrolling (and possible janitor intervention).
  • Want more info? How to link or or How to display code and escape characters are good places to start.
