Why isn't Slashdot using Everything engine? :) Because they are for different purposes; I'm not sure but it should be possible to have diary nodeballs also here, but we already have them at use.perl, as you said.
Think about JavaJunkies.org, they are using Everything, is it enough? :))

Snippets of code should be wrapped in
<code> tags not
<pre> tags. In fact, <pre>
tags should generally be avoided. If they must
be used, extreme care should be
taken to ensure that their contents do not
have long lines (<70 chars), in order to prevent
horizontal scrolling (and possible janitor
intervention).
