This node is mistitled. The question is not about detecting output to STDERR, but detecting when warns are issued.
print STDERR "hi there" prints to STDERR but will not be trapped by a warn. I suggest the node be retitled: How do I trap warns in my program I am putting this in discussion instead of Editor Requests so that it can be discussed. In reply to Retitle node 207408 please by princepawn
