At the end, you need a programmer that is OO. I personally think a good programmer can create an OO program in a not 100% OO language.
Like BrowserUk says, a bad programmer can also make a mess with a 'true' OO language. In that way, an OO language is not holy.
The idea behind OO is, as i think of it, to create easily reusable good documented pluggable peaces of software.
OO is a way of thinking and not dependable on the tool you use (though the tool can make things easier ofcourse).

Posts may use any of the Perl Monks Approved HTML tags. Currently these include the following:
<code> <a> <b> <big>
<blockquote> <br /> <dd>
<dl> <dt> <em> <font>
<h1> <h2> <h3> <h4>
<h5> <h6> <hr /> <i>
<li> <nbsp> <ol> <p>
<small> <strike> <strong>
  <table>
<td> <th> <tr> <tt>
<u> <ul>
-
Snippets of code should be wrapped in
<code> tags not
<pre> tags. In fact, <pre>
tags should generally be avoided. If they must
be used, extreme care should be
taken to ensure that their contents do not
have long lines (<70 chars), in order to prevent
horizontal scrolling (and possible janitor
intervention).
