Perhaps the simplest mechanism would be to turn the problem on its head to provide a semi automated solution. That is, since most of the animosity is towards non-perl5 posts; have a pre-checked checkbox next to the title field on the create screen labeled [x]Perl5; and ask people to un-check it if their post is not strictly Perl5, and add perl5 to all new posts where it is left checked. Then the "nothing but Perl(5)" guys have a clear indication of which posts are suitable for them and the rest of us can make our choices on what sounds interesting to us. With the rise and rise of 'Social' network sites: 'Computers are making people easier to use everyday'
