Well, yeah, welcome to the club? I've never been diagnosed, but for me, all of the signposts are there .. mis-reading social situations (I won't bore you with all of the examples), not realizing I'm talking too much, focusing too much, not focusing enough, occasional OCD, etc, etc. Strangely, I'm fine at Perl conferences and at Perlmonger meetings because I just assume everyone else is on the spectrum with me, and I'm way more open to talking to someone sitting next to me.
Thanks for your post. I can assure you, you are not alone in this. :) And, yup, Perlmonks is an oasis.

Posts may use any of the Perl Monks Approved HTML tags. Currently these include the following:
<code> <a> <b> <big>
<blockquote> <br /> <dd>
<dl> <dt> <em> <font>
<h1> <h2> <h3> <h4>
<h5> <h6> <hr /> <i>
<li> <nbsp> <ol> <p>
<small> <strike> <strong>
  <table>
<td> <th> <tr> <tt>
<u> <ul>
-
Snippets of code should be wrapped in
<code> tags not
<pre> tags. In fact, <pre>
tags should generally be avoided. If they must
be used, extreme care should be
taken to ensure that their contents do not
have long lines (<70 chars), in order to prevent
horizontal scrolling (and possible janitor
intervention).
