( [id://3333]=superdoc: print w/replies, xml ) Need Help??

And here's a version with Data::Dumper and some config vars that also works.

#!/usr/bin/perl -l use strict; # https://perlmonks.org/?node_id=11133064 use warnings; my $template = 'd<'; my $nv = 2.4; $nv = 4135; # NOTE errors for this number my $p = pack $template, $nv; use Data::Dumper; $Data::Dumper::Terse = $Data::Dumper::Useqq = 1; my $s = Dumper $p; print ">$s<\n"; system $^X, '-wle', "use strict; print unpack('H*', $s);";

Outputs:

>"\0\0\0\0\0'\260\@" < 000000000027b040

note that it adds a newline, but perl doesn't care.

Title:
Use:  <p> text here (a paragraph) </p>
and:  <code> code here </code>
to format your post; it's "PerlMonks-approved HTML":

  • Are you posting in the right place? Check out Where do I post X? to know for sure.
  • Posts may use any of the Perl Monks Approved HTML tags. Currently these include the following:
    <code> <a> <b> <big> <blockquote> <br /> <dd> <dl> <dt> <em> <font> <h1> <h2> <h3> <h4> <h5> <h6> <hr /> <i> <li> <nbsp> <ol> <p> <small> <strike> <strong>   <table> <td> <th> <tr> <tt> <u> <ul>
  • Snippets of code should be wrapped in <code> tags not <pre> tags. In fact, <pre> tags should generally be avoided. If they must be used, extreme care should be taken to ensure that their contents do not have long lines (<70 chars), in order to prevent horizontal scrolling (and possible janitor intervention).
