    My first computer job was bash programming. I quit when I realised the person before me (the boss) had written over 3000 lines of script without a single error check ANYWHERE.

    Incidentally, I wasn't allowed to use perl because "it was too big" or some mumbled crap like that. The real reason was that he was a bigoted C programmer who would rather program bash (badly) than perl. I still laugh when I think about it.
