Perlmonks Blog

Greetings Monks,

I was wandering the Monastery, looking for something to do, or something to read, and I thought to myself "What if Perlmonks had a blog?".

Nothing fancy (Wordpress wouldn't be bad), just something that the Perlmonks community as a whole can write posts for and read. Here is how I see it:

  1. We create the blog (ideas wanted)
  2. Monks write posts for the blog
  3. We create a group of Blog Editors to check over the posts (I volunteer)
  4. We post at certain times of the month (ideas wanted)
  5. We have fun with it!

So what do you think? Good idea? Bad idea? Comments? Concerns? Questions? Can we implement this?

What would you see as the difference between a Blog entry and a Meditation?

Honestly, that's a good question. I couldn't answer that... Kind of ruins my idea :P

    There is blogs.perl.org too.

    perl -E'sub Monkey::do{say$_,for@_,do{($monkey=[caller(0)]->[3])=~s{::}{ }and$monkey}}"Monkey say"->Monkey::do'
But these aren't Perlmonks blogs, they're Perl blogs.
      --perl.j
Um, a distinction without a difference. Many Monks maintain a presence at blogs.perl.org as well.

I personally have five or six blog/blog-equivalents that I routinely check. Would a Blog here add to my information band-width? Or, merely consist of (mostly) duplicated posting from somewhere else?

        OGB

        What is the difference?

So you want to get all the "amazing Perl programmers" (as described in some reply of yours) to post on a different site instead of this one?

Or you want them to double their efforts and post on two sites?

And your idea is to, maybe, have them do it on a site powered by a CMS written in PHP?

    Brill...
