A good general rule is if you are no longer being polite then it's time to bail. A2c fails on that front, so bail. A2a seems to be pointless unless you think they missed the link, so bail. A2b is okay, though I would suggest asking them directly what they find confusing and then bail if they still show little to no effort. Q3 is clearly time to bail, and may be time for Consideration. Q4 probably deserves to be reaped.

Why do you say "A2c fails on (the politeness) front?" What criteria for politeness am I simply not seeing?

The "We don't write your code for you" part. They have not specifically asked you too yet, so you are projecting your feelings and your interpretation of the situation onto them.

Nonsense! (And by the way, read the FAQs... and replies to similar "gimme's" from some of the site's most skilled and supportive Monks.)

If Q2 isn't a request for code -- albeit, implicit -- I don't have any idea of what to make of it... although I suppose the possible paraphrases of Q2 might include (in increasing order of likelihood):

        1. Please give me code
        2. I'm so computer-illiterate that it didn't occur to me to follow the link offered previously
        3. Why should I have to learn what you already know
        4. I don't wanna' experiment on my own. Gimme!

Are you so literal minded that you can't recognize "write my code for me" when phrased in other words... or so bounteously generous in your assessment of others' motives that you can see no shortcomings in their utterances?

And if so, well, yes. You're getting under my skin, but maybe you'll consider granting my writings the same generosity of interpretation.

Nah, cynical /me doesn't really think that's a realistic hope.
