New Notes on Newest Nodes page

Something I would like to see is the ability to turn off "New Notes." There are times when I am not able to sign on for a few days, and when I log in, It takes a long time for my newest nodes page to load. If I clear my last checked flag, then I miss alot of good information form SOPW and Meditations. I know that I can go into each area, but I like to do my browsing from newest nodes. Since the "new notes" section is so long sometimes, it makes it more of a pain then a pleasure to browse from newest nodes. Just a thought, let me know what you think.

ps maybe we can have the option to turn off new users too.

That's my story, and I'm sticking to it, unless I'm wrong in which case I will probably change it ;~)

A variation on this I'd like is for new notes on Nodes that are also in the Newest Node list to not be shown.

Most nodes get most replies fairly soon after the Node has been created, so many of the New Notes are replies to Nodes already on the New page.

If the Node title looks interesting, then I'll see the replies anyway when I click on the top node, and if not, I'm not likely to want to read the replies.

This large number of notes makes it harder to pick out replies to nodes that I have seen before and might want to see.

I agree that cutting out the new users is a good idea. Since few if any (I haven't checked) new users will have useful content on their home node immediately after creating an account.

Summary : Remove (with an option if necessary) replies to nodes that are on my newest nodes list.

++ to the suggestion of removing new notes that fall under "New Nodes". There were 225 new notes added today. The list is too long for browsing. I could write a LWP script to re-sort it by author, which might be useful, but that's the only use I can think of for this list.

It would be tremendously useful to have a list of new notes on older pages. Those are often the most interesting posts: follow-ups, corrections, and improvements after a few days of thought.
