You know, two thousand years ago there was language called 'koine'. This language was based on greek and it's purpose was the easy communication between various folks in ancient world.
Ancient greek also were disappointed by koine, but who cares? The code above easy to at least my eyes to read.

Unfortunately, Koine didn't entirely supplant Classical Greek, and people still argue over the translation of various words.

What do you mean? There is no such thing like Classical Greek; we have attic, ionic, dorian etc dialects, and even more! 'The lango of Homer', 'The lango of Plato' and so on, and so forth... They all disappear after koine was developed.

      'Koine' in greek means 'common'.

Sure—I use "Classical Greek" as shorthand for "not Koine". It's a lazy synecdoche.
