Whatever happened to the Monk Map?

I was surfing through the profile options (yes, more avoidance of things I should really be doing). I stumbled across the links of the Monk Map littered all over the place, but the link appears to be broken (Monk Map - I get the ol' 404 Not Found).

A thread search revealed that this was originally done in 2000, with a Google Map update circa 2007. The Google maps look pretty cool - I'm curious why the links in the help haven't been updated to reflect the new Google map with new instruction on how to add oneself (Google Monk Map)?

Obviously this is one of those trite, yet fun things that Monks have used over the years to amuse themselves in between important things like scroll transcriptions and deep meditations on the nature of the universe, so not too important - just curious...

There is http://pmplanet.perlgeek.de/, but I don't know if MonkMap and PMPlanet are the same thing... probably not. Update: see also PMplanet has a new home Perl 6 - second systems done right	[reply]

Excellent, thanks for the link! There's a blurb on the page regarding the HTML comment format for the user profile, so it appears that this is indeed the latest-greatest Monk Map. I'll be sure to include my coords the next time I don't feel like doing actual work...	[reply]

The most recent monk map link I have is: http://desert-island.dynodns.net/perl/pmplanet.html and to the best of my knowledge it is managed by theorbtwo. However, this AM, it seemed to have problems loading (server taking too long according to Firefox). It was definitely live as of Fall, 2009. This is the first time I've checked it since. Update: moritz has provided a more recent (and live link) below. It also has a new maintainer, bart - see the second link provided by moritz.	[reply]
