Hopefully you got here because I did something intelligent on this site. But probably you just clicked my personal node link out of curiosity or worse, boredom, or even worse, you wanted to see what that moron's user bio looked like.

I reside north of beautiful Woodinville, Washington in rural Snohomish county. I am incredibly lucky to have found 2.5 acres of towering 2nd growth Douglas-fir, Big Leaf Maple and Western Red Cedar.

Geek stat-wise, I use FreeBSD for my DSL gateway/firewall/workstation, it's just an old cranky self-built P100 but it still hums when loaded with a real operating system. I have used numerous Linux distros, starting with Slackware 3.0, but after finding BSD I see no turning back for use as a firewall/nat box. My laptop is currently loaded with SuSE 7.1.

I have been using Perl (off and on) since June of '94 when creating a new website for GNA (now a little toe of GE Capital). I am currently lead architect for a web-based HR system, for a local manufacturer (on contract). Perl is currently my favorite programming language, due to it's ease of use, power, efficiency (my time) and it's appropriateness as the CGI language.

I've learned a ton on this site, and expect that trend to continue.

I finally completed the wonderful novel "Manus‎crip‎t Found in Saragosa" by Jan Potaki (now I have to re-read it). It's also a very cool movie that was restored due to the interest and funding by the late Jerry Garcia. This book would be a perfect gift for someone you know who loves to obsfuscate Perl.. I also just finished Ben Frankin's autobiography.

Since I don't have anything else to say here right now, I'll stop...

oh, if it's friday, I am very likely here.
