I have found Perl2Exe to be a very sane packager -- but if you're doing GUI, you need the Pro version at $149, instead of the Lite version at $49.

In any regard, the only problems I have ever had with Perl2Exe are these:

1) I had to upgrade Perl2Exe when I upgraded Perl to v5.8.9, meaning another license fee. Since upgrading to v5.8.9 solved a slew of problems I was having with getting modules installed, I considerd the upgrade mandatory. (I held out as long as I could.)

2) I get eggs thrown at me every time I mention Perl2Exe on Perlmonks.

I can live with those two issues. :-)

P.S. Thanks for the tip about Cava Packager. Though it's apparently less than graceful in its deployment strategy, it sounds functional, and that's the first requirement. "Ugly but functional" is fine with me.
