O'reilly Tutorials should be a good start...
Not really a tutorial but those slides have interesting info IMHO...

(Of course I suppose you already checked our tutorials section...)

It's off topic but if you also want a quick (syntax) test you could use the yapat prog from zeno...

Although not written for a presentation, I find the first chapter of the Learning Perl book by merlyn a great starting point. If you are in a hurry, you can find it online here.(Thanks, Merlyn!) And if you have a day before the class, go buy the book and encourage your students to buy one. I use it as the text of my own Perl course and find it very clear and easy for students to understand. Heck, that's how I learned Perl.

I might get you wrong, but do I understand it right that you need to hold the tutorial? Well, Super Search could have helped you then, I've found Material for a quick Perl Tutorial which should be enough content for a 6 hour talk.

Lincoln Stein has graciously posted many of his tutorials online, many of them in Powerpoint format. Goto Lincoln Stein's Home Page and click on 'World Wide Web Talks'

    Here's a shameless plug (please don't --me):

I have a simple slide show (PPT) which I have used to give free workshops at a local college. You can find it here, at my personal home page.

If you find any of it useful, please let me know. It gives an overview of the basics (many of the attendees never programmed before).

Forgive me if I'm wrong but I would consider this even more of a "please do my homework for me" than the average 'how can I take this input and get this output' question. He not only wants pointers to content for a tutorial, but pre-made powerpoint slides too! The only thing that sets this apart from the average homework question is that this poster will probably be paid for someone else's work instead of just getting a passing grade on an assignment. All I can say is I'm glad I am not taking this tutorial from someone who just grabs lifts their presentation materials from the net.

Maybe, maybe not... but don't you use modules made by someone else and be paid for that work ?
Sure this guy need some quick help and his request is near than homework question... but I don't think it is the same thing...

There's a thing called satisfaction... and it feels great.

Why I would write my own slides/texts instead of already existing texts, has to do with satisfaction.
Yes, my slides might suck; yes, they might have loads of stuff missing.
BUT also: yes, I learned a bit more while writing and explaining; yes, it feels great that effort 'pays off'
If you are not confident about your material, how can you expect your pupils to listen to you?

I'm sure Lincoln Stein, dominus , Larry Wall and merlyn have great powerpoint presentations on the subject but what good are they if the person presenting them doesn't fully understand 'em? vaidhyakrish stated 2 things: He know some perl and he needed the tutorials fast. I doubt anyone will be able to answer all questions when using a premade presentation, on an unfamiliar topic.

as a sidenote:I told vaidhyakrish in the CB how I normally go about writing texts/prepping slides. He didn't think that was much help.
disclaimer (& update): I have no proof whatsoever that Lincoln, Larry, merlyn or dominus use MS Powerpoint for their presentations :)

... Quidquid perl dictum sit, altum viditur.
The difference between this request and homework is that a student is supposed to do the homework himself to help him learn. A teacher does not prepare Powerpoint viewgraphs to help him learn. If the slides are in the public domain and some monks know where the slides are then I say go for it.

I consider this request to be a very appropriate use of PM, and I am glad that the requester was able to find the assistance here that he needed.

      Feeling scalded after being 1) reaped and 2) a -2 (so far) for a second post. I play with fire. Nonetheless I go "I'm with you Cap'n!" www.perl.com www.plover.perl.com www.altavista.com www.use.your.initiative.and.try.a.search.com Oh dear, there I go again! tachyon back to initiate I go. But better an initiate with principles than a saint with a brown nose, I say. my $answer=[q;7566626f206f7420756f7920656d6f636c65772049;]; print join''=>reverse split''=>pack H42=>$answer->[-1]=>42;
